Course Summary

Exploring Health Sciences, Semester A, is the first part of a two-semester course. It introduces you to health care systems and careers. You will first trace the history of healthcare in the United States. You will learn about the different health care facilities and methods of payment for health care. You will also identify the role of culture, ethnicity, and race in health care. You will then examine career options in biotechnology research, therapeutic services, support services, health informatics, and diagnostic services. You will learn about the nature of the work and the educational qualifications needed for various job positions, and the importance of soft skills. You will also evaluate various health and wellness theories. Finally, you will learn about the chain of infection and strategies to break the chain.
